I also read the article from Women's World and felt compelled to write a message after reading some posts. I was diagnosed about 7 years ago by a Neurologist who has knowledge in Fibromyalgia. Thank GOD I found him! He has me on a muscle relaxer called Soma (trademark) but I take the generic called Carisoprodol. I use this to put me to sleep every night. It has been a godsend to me. I began treatments taking one or two tablets at night and now take the highest dose which is 6 tablets at night. It sounds like alot but it is not. I have been on this dose for about 5 years. I wake up refreshed and without any sleepy side effects. Before I was being treated I slept barely 2 hours a night and this went on for about 2 years. It was a horrible time for me. The key to a healthy life with Fibro is sleep and exercise. Be sure the exercise is not too strenuous though or it will not benefit you. Light exercise everyday will be of great benefit.(stretching, walking, even slow jogging) You must get a deep sleep in order to restore your body. This means having your body make serontin while you sleep. Taking the medication promotes a sleep that helps your body restore the right hormones you need for a pain free day. Diet is always important but, for me to get a grip on my sleeping schedule has changed my life. I will still get flareups but can usually trace them to a reason. Number one priority for me is to keep the same hours of sleep every night. Wthin 15 20 minutes every night. Try it. It certainly helped me. Good luck to all of you in finding the right Dr. It is the best help of all.....that and following the steps of sleep, diet and exercise.

Thank you so much for your positive input. If we don't do gentle exercise, everything else falls apart. You are so correct about sleep. Thanks again!! Hope, Peace and Joy Always! Karen
