I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 3 years ago. I have gained about 35 lbs in those 3 years and my self esteem is so low because of the weight gain. I don't know anyone else with Fibromyalgia who I can ask what types of exercise work for them as far as not only strengthening the muscles but also helping with any weight loss. I am aware of the foods not to eat but sometimes it gets very hard.

I had been reading Woman's World this weekend and read Karen's article in there and immediately after work tonight got on the website to check things out. I was looking at the Fibroga information but was also wondering are there other types of exercise I could also do in the mean time that would help.

I just received the womans world magazine today, and I just read that article. I was only diagnoised a year ago, my mother has been sick for 10 years and her father before he died I believe from Fibromylgia. My mom says my fibro is a lot worse than hers, mine came on very quickly. But I can remember back to my youth when I had severe unexplained pain. Since my third daughter at the age of 30 I have never been able to lose the muffin top like I did after the first two. I have tried diets, exerise and many other things but nothing helps. I am 60 pounds over weight. I am a bartender and move very quickly.

I read a book called "What a doctor will not tell you about Fibromylagia", I started the protocal on the first and so far it seems to be working. But I am so weak when it come to not eating or fulfilling the cravings. I am going to order the first aid kit from Karen. I hope these exercises will help build up my metabolism. I hate sleeping all day and up all night. I hope you find your peace.

Hi Luanne,
The best type of exercise for fibromyalgia is stretching. You will gain strength if you stick with it but there is no magic bullet. The Fibroga is why I am strong and doing the things that I could not do for years. It is recommended not to do weight bearing or resistance but I can tell you from my experience that the Fibroga exercise works. For the diet, you have to start by eliminating processed granulated sugar and replacing it with healthy natural sugars like xylitol or stevia. Any of the substitutes such as Equal, Splenda ,etc have ASPERTAME in them and it is a pain trigger. The extra weight is usually from eating granulated sugar and having a build up of yeast overgrowth in your body. You cannot shed the pounds because the yeast thrives on the sugar, as well as any white potatoes, white rice or other starchy foods where the starch turns to sugar. I know that I can help you but it takes time and dedication to make these lifestyle changes. It isn't hard but you have to be patient. Some start seeing results in 6 weeks, some change their foods and see results and lower pain levels right away, but normally you have to give your body time to heal. I always say that we didn't get this way overnight so it will take some time and patience to turn it around.
I hope that this helps you !!
Hope, Peace and Joy Always.
Sincerely,

Hi BCaldwell,
Your fibro fist aid kit is on it's way. I am excited for you! This is the first step to getting to where I am now. No pain and I do what I want to do! Sleep is so important to those of us with fibromyalgia. If you are not getting a good 8 hours of sleep where you know that you have dreamed, you should talk to your PCP. Imagine being healthy and someone deprives you of sleep for one week. I know that you would be achey and feel lousy without the deep REM sleep. Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum addresses sleep as being one of the most critical issues with fibromyalgia. There are some very good night time teas on the market. One that is very popular in my classes is called "Sleepy Time" tea. There are others so you just have to try and if you are still not getting into deep REM sleep where you dream, talk to your PCP.
Remember, if you have any questions as you work with the kit, don't hesitate to call me!!
Hope, Peace and Joy Always,
Sincerely,
Karen Grove
