Hi, This is my first time on the message board. Does anyone else experience severe pain in the feet and hands? If so do you know of any relief remedies?

Yes, I find so many with stiffness and pain in their feet and hands. Some even get tingling. Some have found that hot wax treatments help and you can purchase the machines in most of the department stores. I find that my FIBROGA exercise helps me to stretch and strengthen my hands and feet, especially in the morning after not moving them all night. The more you can to to stretch them out, the more relief you will get. And don't forget to do relaxation to settle the muscles and nerve endings down!! If you have any questions, please feel free to call me on my toll free number. I would be very happy to talk with you anytime.

I also have severe foot pain especially in the morning at times so bad I can barely walk. I have found great benefit from foot reflexology as well as aromatic essential oil massage to my feet and legs. This helps tremendously. I have been studying about the effects of the different oils. Many are specific for analgesia, muscle spasms, tingling symptoms of FMS. Some also increase blood circulation to the effected areas. (an added benefit is they are wonderful for the skin and my varicose veins are improed as well) I now make up my own specific blends and use them daily. They have been a lifesaver for me! If you are interested there are many wonderful books online to help get you started with recipes for your personal blends. Just goggle aromatherapy recipes for pain and you should come up with information to get started or go to the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy site - www.naha.org for resources also. Hope this helps!

Greetings. Karen this is amazing work you've done here! Thank you for all this! I notice that my hand and foot pain is often the subtle precursor to full-fledged attacks that leave me moaning in bed for days, or at least trying to get around and work...that is, if I do not pay attention and get to a good massage therapist or at the very least into the pool and hot tub at the gym! I also use this harbinger of an attack to go over my eating habits and see what I've done to bring it on. Did I have a huge slice of birthday cake or some cookies? Eating too much bread? It doesn't always work, but I'd say 90% of the time, I can head off the really big attacks by using extreme self-care. I know now that if I don't pay attention, the pain creeps into my legs and arms and then into my hips, shoulders and back. Everytime it comes back, it's worse than before, or is it that feeling good is so nice, I regret when it goes away?!?!?! Take care, all, Mary Lou

Hi Everyone, One of my students told me that Dr. Teitelbaum's book "Pain Free 1,2,3" discusses the swelling and pain in the feet. She said that she went to the Whole Foods Store and bought digestive enzymes and all of the swelling is gone. If you don't have this book, get it!! He also has "From Fatigued to Fantastic"..Two of the greatest books ever and one of the greatest MD Internists who knows so much about Fibromyalgia because he has it!! Check out his site at www.endfatigue.com. There are fibro and fatigue centers all over the country. For you in Cleveland, he is speaking at the Beachwood Hilton on November 6th at 6:00. It is a free lecture. Please come if you are close. I will be there, too!

I began experiencing severe foot pain a few years ago. My rheumatologist told me to go see a podiatrist and maybe orthotics would help me. Well, he was right and I did go to the podiatrist and then discovered that I have a condition called plantar fasciitis which affects the bottom of your foot from the ball of the foot down to the heel. The area by my arch becomes most painful as well as standing up in the AM and feeling instant heel pain. I have had pain so severe, that I could barely walk at work without anyone asking me if I was ok, to the point when I could not even drive my own car. There were days I worked when the pain was so severe, that I had to hold back my tears. The orthotics help me a lot but there are times when the pain and swelling in the heel area become very painful again. Then I go for a series of 3 shots. This time I decided to order a night splint, which is the most awkward looking thing, but as I use it a little more each night I can feel the gentle stretching which alleviates the pain. Like Gilda Radner a//k/a Roseanne Rosanadana, used to say on the old SNL shows, "if it's not one thing, it's something else." Laughter is better than medicine!

Thanks so much for sharing your information. You are so right..."Laughter is the best medicine". I heard on the radio one day on the way to class that 400 laughs are equal to one aerobic workout!!! Hope, Peace and Joy always in your life!! Sincerely, Karen Grove

I have constant foot and hand pain.......I just try to massage them but there are times nothing works. Sometimes I think the foot pain is plantar fasciitis.
